Six Traits Writing
The 6+1 Traits Writing framework is an effective way to learn and use a common language to refer to characteristics of
writing as well as sharing what good writing looks like. Teachers and students can use the 6+1 Traits Writing to focus
on areas of strength and weakness in order to improve writing. This workshop will focus on the 6+1 traits of writing
and how to assess them. Learn how ideas, organization, word choice, voice, sentence fluency, conventions and
presentation are taught in connection with literature.

Reading in Content Areas
If students cannot read expository text, it is difficult to learn the content. This class will help you teach your students to
become better content readers. Before, during and after reading strategies, as well as vocabulary and text structures
will be addressed.

Interdisciplinary Connection
Interdisciplinary instruction enhances the learning experiences of students because it provides a way of teaching that
reflects the interconnectedness of the real world, provides interest and excitement for students and teachers, and
allows for many ways to integrate the curriculum so that student needs are most effectively met.
